Unlocking Growth Potential: Milele’s Experience at In Focus: Tanzania & Uganda-Event

On Wednesday, 18th September 2024, Milele had the privilege of attending the highly anticipated event, In Focus: Tanzania & Uganda, hosted at the Dubai Chambers Headquarters. This event was designed to explore and strengthen business connections between Dubai and the rapidly growing economies of East Africa, particularly Uganda and Tanzania.

It was an excellent opportunity for Milele to engage with like-minded professionals, establish new partnerships, and explore emerging business opportunities.

Welcome Address by H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah

The event commenced with a welcome address by H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President & CEO of Dubai Chambers. His remarks emphasized the growing economic ties between Dubai and East Africa and the immense potential for businesses to tap into the thriving markets of Uganda and Tanzania. The warm hospitality and forward-thinking vision displayed by Dubai Chambers echoed throughout the day’s agenda.

The highlight of the event was a presentation by Omar Khan, Head of the Centre for Business Studies and Research at Dubai Chambers. His session outlined the synergies between Dubai’s strengths in logistics, finance, and tourism, and East Africa’s booming trade and infrastructure sectors. At Milele, we are always looking for opportunities to expand our reach, and this session provided valuable insights into how we can leverage Dubai’s robust economic infrastructure to explore growth opportunities in Tanzania and Uganda

Key industries such as agriculture, energy, and tourism were spotlighted as areas ripe for development, and it became clear that building strong partnerships in these sectors could unlock vast potential for Milele’s future ventures.

The panel discussion was another key feature of the event, featuring influential speakers including Hassan Al Hashemi, Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, Shada El Borno from Standard Chartered Bank, and Mohammed Ismail from DP World. The moderator, Saana Azzam, led a lively conversation that delved deep into the strategic importance of Dubai’s economic connections with Africa.

The panelists shared their expertise on how businesses like Milele can capitalize on the rising demand for infrastructure and trade in Tanzania and Uganda. As a company committed to growth, we found the discussions around East Africa’s evolving business landscape particularly inspiring, offering a fresh perspective on how we can align our services with the needs of these growing markets.

New Horizons for Milele

A special segment on the New Horizons initiative, led by Aisha Al Mazrouei, Project Manager at Dubai Chambers, shed light on how Dubai is fostering a stronger business relationship with African markets. We were encouraged to explore how Milele could be part of this journey, by not only building new business relationships but also navigating the expanding trade opportunities in East Africa.

As the event concluded, it was clear that Milele’s participation in In Focus: Tanzania & Uganda has opened up new avenues for collaboration, growth, and innovation in the East African region. We are excited to be part of the thriving economic ties between Dubai and Africa, and we look forward to forging new partnerships that will propel us to even greater heights.
